Speaking, as complicated and rewarding as it is, is just one part of the communication equation. Listening is at least as complex as speaking, especially if we want to do it well. By finding out more about the processes involved in listening, we can make sure that when we speak, we we give the best opportunity for our audiences to really hear what we say.

A practical workshop in which to take the chance to reflect on what you have heard about listening, and how this might change the way you speak. Explore how this may change for different audiences, and try some practical exercises to take away with you to transform your understanding of how people listen, what they listen for, and how you can speak to make a difference to this experience.
#2. DK : Designing A Kickass Presentation Deck – WORKSHOP
A hands-on masterclass on how to design a kickass presentation deck which will include slide layout, font choice, image repositories, other media techniques, transitional use, cheeky tricks etc. DK will cover off all this and more by designing a deck from start to finish in real time.
#3. Michelle Dickinson : Finding Your Voice – WORKSHOP
Exploring techniques for those quiet people to find their voice and gain confidence in sharing ideas and thoughts. An interactive masterclass of stepping beyond yourself and crafting a repeatable strategies.

How do you take your audience by the hand and lead them to an outcome, thought or action? How can you break down the complex into the captivating and really engage with those you need to one on one or to bigger audiences? Skilful speakers are naturally seen as leaders but how do you get there via embracing real stories that resonate?

#1. EMMA HART : Speaking Techniques For Confidence, Persuasion And Leadership – WORKSHOP
Emotion evokes action. Motivating people to action is leadership. This masterclass gives practical techniques on how to engage with any audience using personal narrative, visual imagery and emotion. Given that most people are visually oriented and visual symbols are the most powerful of the sensory communication tools, we work on how to create and deliver powerful and persuasive messages which balance facts and emotion, creating pictures in people’s minds and action in their hearts.
#2. Glenis Hiria Philip-Barbara : Tōku reo, tōku ohooho, my story, my purpose – WORKSHOP
Drawing on Māori cultural wisdom and good old fashioned humanity, stories of transformational change, insight applied and the super power that is human connection continue to generate hope and inspire action. Come along to this master class on kaupapa & story having reflected on those things you are most passionate about and those moments in time that landed you there. In this class you fashion your own narrative to take forward into your career and life.

For Glenis, exploring the value of kaupapa (purpose, mission, focus) as a key principle underpinning story is her passion and focus in work and life. In her current work both professionally and in a range of community contexts this principle and approach continues to bear fruit cutting through the driest of contexts to provide the human element and a fresh yet ancient approach to the way we work.
